Flow-Guard Media Filters provide outstanding filtration of both organic and inorganic materials found within common irrigation waters. Due to their ability to filter a wide variety of contaminants to very low levels, Flow-Guard Media Filters are widely used as primary filtration systems in drip and micro-irrigation systems all over the world.

As source water passes through a sand media filter, a wide variety of both organic and inorganic materials are captured in the media bed while allowing the now filtered water to pass through. Media comes in a variety of types and sizes. Depending on the media used, irrigation water from virtually any source can be filtered effectively. It is this fact that has made the media filter the traditional standard in drip and sprinkler irrigation for many years. |
|
Backwashing or Backflushing refers to the removal of captured materials
that have been effectively filtered out of the original source water.
When the filtering media has captured enough material to cause the
pressure differential between the inlet and the outlet of the filter to
reach a predetermined level (or at specific timed intervals) the flow of
water is reversed through the sand bed and the captured material is
flushed out. |
